Gascoigne leads Bandits with 2-hitter

WASHINGTON, Penn. - The Chicago Bandits used a two-hit shutout by Michelle Gascoigne to record a 5-0 win Wednesday night and sweep their three-game series against the Pennsylvania Rebellion.

The win pushes the Bandits to 8-1 in National Pro Fastpitch play as the Rebellion fell to 2-9 on the season.

Dallas Escobedo shut down the Bandits through three innings before Chicago grabbed a 3-0 lead behind a run-scoring single by Tammy Williams and a two-run double by Megan Blank. The Bandits added two more runs in the seventh.

Gascoigne (1-0) was untouched through four innings before giving up a hit in the fifth. She had four strikeouts on the night.

The Bandits return to Illinois for an exhibition game against the Windy City Thunderbolts on Monday at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood for a "Battle of the Sexes" game.
