Future Ready initiative

Gurnee Elementary District 56 will host a regional summit on digital learning sponsored by the Future Ready initiative, June 15 and 16. The intensive two-day event will be held in the district's new Prairie Trail School, 13600 W Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, and will include 200 educators and regional experts from throughout the Midwest. Future Ready is a national effort led by the U.S. Department of Education and the Alliance for Excellent Education. The program helps school districts maximize digital learning opportunities and prepare students for success in college, a career and citizenship. District 56 was chosen to host the summit due, in part, to its technology programs, including its 1:1 iPad initiative, officials said in a news release. The two-day summit will feature trained facilitators skilled at using technology and digital learning effectively.
