Lavender Cookies

½ cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1½ teaspoon lavender flowers, finely chopped

1½ cup flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Blend the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla and lavender. Combine the flour and baking powder and slowly add to the batter. Drop by teaspoon-full onto an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned on the edges. Cool for 2 minutes on the pan, and then transfer to a rack to finish cooling.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.
