Aptakisic earns Teamwork Award at Shedd UAV Competition

On May 16, District 102's Aptakisic Aviation Exploring Club competed in the Shedd UAV Design Challenge at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago and won the Teamwork Award.

The competition included flying the team's quadcopter through an obstacle course and completing three quadcopter missions, including taking aerial photography to identify ecosystems, collecting and comparing water samples and using aerial photography to survey local bird populations.

Students also gave a short presentation on the process of designing, building and flying unmanned aerial vehicles and shared ideas for future uses of UAVs.

Congratulations to Aptakisic students Michael Arshinov, Shashank Bala, Sreeram Danda, Akash Kumar, Justin Kuncheria, Abhinav Pappu, Rachel Potula, and Rahul Subramanian and coaches Charlenen Chausis (Creative Innovative specialist), Robert Hudson (assistant superintendent of Educational Innovative), and Hanna Yang (math teacher).
