100 phones stolen in robbery of Des Plaines store

Des Plaines police are looking for two men who stole 100 cellphones valued at more than $13,000 and cash during the robbery of a Cricket Wireless store last week.

The suspects entered the business, located at 1184 Lee St., at 12:23 p.m. last Thursday, telling a store employee to "just be calm and don't do anything stupid or we will shoot you," though neither displayed a weapon, according to a police report released Monday.

They placed the phones, worth an estimated $13,829, into a lime green duffle bag, along with $2,134 in cash, police said.

One suspect is described as a white male, 5'7" to 5'8" tall, 160 pounds, between 40 and 50 years old, with long blonde hair tied in a ponytail and hung out of a ball cap. The other suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5'3" tall, 140 pounds, with short black hair and possibly facial hair. Both men were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, baseball hats, sunglasses, and scarves or other material that hid their faces from the nose down.
