Rosters set for Fehlman Memorial all-star game

The rosters have been set for the 12th annual Fehlman Memorial Senior All-Star Game, which is scheduled for Monday, June 15 at Judson University in Elgin.

Game time is 6:30 p.m. and admission is free.

The game is played in memory of Dave and Robbie Fehlman. Dave Fehlman, who passed away in 2007, was a longtime supporter of high school and travel softball and a past president of the Fox Valley Renegades. His son, Robbie, was killed in Colorado by an impaired driver in 2012.

Dave Fehlman's daughter, Lissa, will be on hand to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Lissa, a St. Edward graduate and a former honorary captain of the Daily Herald all-area softball team, went on to play at Evansville University.

Also throwing out a first pitch will be Kelly Horan, who this week stepped down as head coach at St. Charles East. Horan coached one of the all-star teams last year.

The coaches for this year's event are Tracy Beatty of Dundee-Crown and Tammy Olson of Cary-Grove.

Umpires donating their time for the event include Scott Massie, Steve Gamble and Courtney LaFerle.

The color guard from the Haderer-Eineke American Legion Post 680 of Hampshire will present the colors for the national anthem and an MVP will be selected from each team at the end of the event.

A 50/50 raffle will also be held to help defray the cost of the event.

The event is sponsored by Judson University, the Chicago Bandits, the Northern Illinois Lightning and the Daily Herald.
