Jane Addams Tollway work brings local road closures

The first lane closures on major thoroughfares underneath the Jane Addams Tollway begin next week as work continues on the widening of the road.

From next week through August, westbound traffic on Higgins Road in Rosemont will be reduced to one lane under Interstate 90. Two eastbound lanes will remain open to traffic, according to Illinois tollway officials.

During the week of June 15 through late summer, traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines and on Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights under I-90. One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic.

Officials say electronic message signs will be in place on each of the local roadways to alert drivers to the scheduled lane closures. All work is weather dependent.
