Free kids nutrition program offered by Presence St. Joseph

Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin is offering a free 8-week nutrition education program for children and parents every Monday in June from June 8-27.

The "IROC: I'm Reducing Obesity in Children" program will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the hospital's Medical Office Building One, lower level, 87 N. Airlite St., Elgin.

IROC is designed to promote lifelong, healthy eating habits for children, ages 5-10. Kids will love the hands-on cooking classes that will teach and introduce them to the importance of nutrition, easy recipes, simple measurement and kitchen safety. Parents will take part in education workshops led by certified diabetes education educators that emphasize proper nutrition for children.

Presence Saint Joseph Hospital is a proud partner of the Making Kane County Fit for Kids Campaign and is working in collaboration with the American Cancer Society to bring this unique program to Kane County.

This program is supported by the Alfred Bersted Foundation Bank of America.

Registration is required by calling (847) 622-2097 or email mary.macdonald@presencehealth.org.

It is limited to two children and two adults per family.
