Stevenson advances to sectional

Robby McGaha went 4-for-6 with a triple and an RBI, and Stevenson's baseball team scored 8 runs in the top of the eighth inning to stun top-seeded Glenbrook North 14-9 in the Class 4A Palatine regional final Saturday.

The extra-inning win earned the eighth-seeded Patriots a berth in their own sectional semifinals. Stevenson (25-11-1) will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of Monday's Glenbrook South regional final between No. 4 St. Viator and No. 5 Glenbrook South.

Jimmy Marchese was 2-for-5 and drove in 4 runs for Stevenson, while Patrick Loeffler went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Willie Bourbon walked five times, going 1-for-1 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Charlie Ling added a double, and Jack Trotter was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 walks.

Justin Stark picked up the win, throwing 3⅓ innings.
