Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Navy sailor from Lisle who died overseas.

Ryan Burris, 23, a petty officer second class, died May 21 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from injuries in a noncombat incident in Zayed Military City, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

He was a "witty, hardworking, kindhearted, ambitious sailor," according to his obituary.

His mom Karen Burris remembered his patriotism and devotion to the Navy.

"He was very happy with what he was doing, and I'm very proud of him," she said earlier this month.

A funeral service will begin 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division St., Lisle.

Burial will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
