Woman involved in Mount Prospect crash pleads guilty to DUI

A Crest Hill woman with two previous DUI convictions pleaded guilty to a third this week in Rolling Meadows.

Danuta Lata, 58, was sentenced to one year in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to aggravated DUI, a class four felony punishable by up to three years in prison, according to court records.

Lata was charged with DUI after Mount Prospect officers - responding to a report of a car crash near the Jewel store at 333 E. Euclid Ave. - detected an odor of alcohol coming from Lata's vehicle, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Lata had a blood alcohol content of .333. The legal threshold in Illinois is .08.

Lata, who received credit for 94 days in custody, must complete at least 50 percent of her sentence before she is eligible for parole. She was also ordered to pay $4,294 in fines, records show.
