Carpentersville man charged with 7th DUI

A 44-year-old Carpentersville man has been charged with his seventh DUI dating back to January 2014.

A Kane County grand jury indicted Eduardo Calleros, of the 0-99 block of Thrush Road, this week on the felony charge that carries a minimum prison term of six years and a tops of 30.

Calleros has been held at the Kane County jail on $55,750 bail since November 2014 on drug charges, and he is next due in court June 11.

The upgraded charges were secured after prosecutors learned Calleros was arrested in February 2004 and June 2004 in Harris County, Texas, for DUI and served time in jail for both counts.

Calleros was arrested on charges of DUI in March 2010 in Pulaski County, Illinois, along with September 2011 in McHenry County and October 2011 in Kane County, prosecutors said.

The 2011 offenses landed a three-year prison term for Calleros, of which he served half, before a 2013 DUI arrest in Carpentersville.

Calleros was charged with DUI in Carpentersville at about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 11, 2013, after an officer pulled him over for driving without his headlights on, according to court records.

Carpentersville police Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said Calleros was arrested again about 9 p.m. Jan. 29, 2014, on Route 25 near Hazard Road and charged with felony aggravated DUI, along with driving while his license was revoked and having open alcohol in his vehicle.

Calleros was released on bail after the January 2014 arrest, and was picked up Nov. 12, 2014, after authorities were called to the 100 block of Pecos Circle.

Bosshart said authorities responded to the crash in which Calleros struck a detached garage with a Dodge Ram. Calleros had outstanding warrants from Carpentersville, the Illinois Department of Corrections and Kane County, Bosshart said.

He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance after police found a bag containing a substance that tested positive for cocaine and marijuana in Calleros' truck, Bosshart said.
