Lake County to host Field of Honor for vets in N. Chicago

Lake County Honor flight, the City of North Chicago and the North Chicago Fire Department will present the Lake County Field of Honor event June 5-7 at the North Chicago Veterans Memorial on the 1800 block of Sheridan Road. The Field of Honor should be up by 10 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Monday. The event also is a fundraiser to benefit Lake County Honor Flight program, which raises money to send local World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. Sponsorship of a full-size flag is $40. Guests are encouraged to walk amid the ordered rows where each full-sized flag waves atop an eight-foot white staff in a stirring formation.
