Music notes: Pet Symmetry goes Subterranean

Pet Symmetry goes Subterranean

When Evan Weiss from the indie emo band Into It. Over It. joined forces with Dowsing's Erik Czaja and Marcus Nuccio, they busted out on the Chicago indie scene with Pet Symmetry. The guys have an energetic and fun take on what they call geekmo (Get it? Geek emo?) pop, but they play with reckless abandon, aiming to keep you from getting comfortable plopping them into a specific genre. Pet Symmetry plays an album-release show at Chicago's Subterranean Friday, May 29, along with Annabel, Lifted Bells and Joie De Vivre. 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., Chicago. Tickets are $8 to $10. (773) 278-6600 or subt.net.
