Explore the history of Tekakwitha Woods

On Tuesday, June 2, visit Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve in St. Charles for an in-depth look at the preserve's past, present and future, during "The Sense of Place" program series.

From dance hall to spiritual retreat center, Tekakwitha Woods has a fascinating history. Learn about the origin of the preserve's name, its cultural history and ecology.

Nature programs manager Valerie Blaine lived on-site at Tekakwitha for four years. She will provide information on the land and other local knowledge.

The "Learn from the Experts" programs are taught by experts in their respective fields and offer in-depth information and learning opportunities about local ecology. The programs are offered through a partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, and the St. Charles and Geneva park districts.

The program will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve, 35W076 Villa Marie Road, St. Charles.
