Centegra to offer support group for those affected by sleep disorders

Centegra Health System's "Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic," a support group for patients and family members affected by sleep disorders, will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock, 3701 Doty Road, in conference rooms A and B.

A representative from Lincare, one of the largest providers of oxygen equipment, will discuss maintenance of sleep therapy equipment, including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure devices. Registration is required. Space is limited. Register for the meeting by calling (877) CENTEGRA (236-8347).

The A.W.A.K.E. group is part of the American Sleep Apnea Association. Centegra's Sleep Services helps physicians diagnose and treat sleep disorders. The Centegra Sleep Services staff works directly with board-certified physicians to provide patients compassionate, high-quality care. During a sleep study, a technologist records an assortment of measurements while a patient sleeps. The patient is painlessly connected to various monitors that record breathing, heart rate, muscle movement and other key factors.

Sleep services available at Centegra range from age 5 and older. Parents of sleep services patients may stay overnight in a designated area. Centegra also provides the continuum of services for treatment and follow up, including medical equipment for rent or purchase.

Those who think they may have sleep disorders are encouraged to talk to their physicians and ask for a referral to Centegra Sleep Services. Sleep services are located at Route 14 and Doty Road, Woodstock and 1122 N. Main St., Algonquin. Individuals also may call (877) CENTEGRA or visit centegra.org/sleep for further information.
