Duckworth to appear at DuPage Democrats event

U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth is scheduled to appear this weekend at an event hosted by the Democratic Women of DuPage County.

The second annual Tinker Harvey Founder's Day and Campaign Kick-Off is 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Emmet's Alehouse, 5200 S. Main St., Downers Grove.

Harvey, who died in 2013, was a force for the Democratic Party in DuPage County for nearly five decades, and a founding member of the board of directors for Illinois Democratic Women.

Organizers say Duckworth will headline the event. Duckworth, a Hoffman Estates Democrat, has announced she'll run for the Senate in 2016.

Heavy appetizers will be served during the event, and there will be a cash bar.

The event is free for members, $20 for nonmembers, and $100 for sponsors. RSVP to Kevin Allen, lkj1062@me.com.
