Register now for discount for Lazarus House fundraiser run

Early registration discount ends this weekend for runners who wish to participate in the 2015 Great Western Freedom 4 Run and Walk to benefit Lazarus House on July 4.

Preregistration fee is $25 for the race until May 31; $28 from June 1-July 1. There's a $3 preregistration race discount to CARA, Fox River Trail, Dick Pond Fast Track, and Performance Runner members. The run is a competitive four mile CARA Certified race on a USATF certified course and on the Fox River Trail Runners Circuit.

This event also features a two-mile scenic walk suited for the whole family. Preregistration for the walk is $20 and children, age 9 and younger, are free.

Runners and walkers can preregister at www.signmeup.com before July 1. Event day registration is $25 for walkers and $35 for runners. All participants are encouraged to help their neighbors in need by collecting pledges for Lazarus House. Forms are available with a link from the registration Web page.

Last year, 429 patriotic participants enjoyed the competition, exercise, and festivities with music, food, and local vendors. The event begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, in St. Charles.

All proceeds benefit Lazarus House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit emergency shelter, center for transitional living, and outreach program for men, women, and children who are homeless or at risk from Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, or western rural Kane County.

Event sponsorship and vendor opportunities are available. Information is available at www.lazarushouseonline.com or by calling Darlene at (630) 587-2144.
