Cougars pounded 13-4

DAVENPORT, Iowa - A fast start by the Kane County Cougars wasn't enough as the Quad Cities River Bandits poured across a dozen unanswered runs en route to a 13-4 win at Modern Woodmen Park on Wednesday night.

In the first inning, Marty Herum belted a 3-run homer, his fifth of the season that stretched his hitting streak to 13 games, for the Cougars (23-24). Two innings later, Colin Bray hit an inside-the-park home run.

Cougars starter Touki Toussaint (0-1) took the loss.

The series concludes today at 7 p.m. when the Cougars send Ethan Elias (4-1, 1.80 ERA) against Brock Dykxhoorn (3-2, 3.63).
