Hoffman Estates Wendy's, McDonald's getting upgrades

Two aging fast-food restaurant facilities in Hoffman Estates will be replaced by new, modernized versions of the same brands this year.

The Hoffman Estates village board Tuesday approved an upgrade of the Wendy's in the Golf Center Shopping Center at 29 W. Golf Road with a more modern building on the same site.

Village officials have also received word that plans for a similar upgrade of the McDonald's at Barrington Square Town Center on Higgins Road east of Barrington Road are being moved up from next year to this year.

The already approved project will be built to the west of the existing McDonald's and east of Buona Beef. The old McDonald's will be razed as soon as the new one is open, and the shopping center will then market the site for a new outlot tenant.
