Randall named Elk Grove High School girls athletic director

Elk Grove High School has named Jackie Randall, current English teacher and head girls track coach at Grant High School, as its new girls athletic director.

“We were incredibly fortunate to have such a strong group of candidates for this position,” said Bob Murphy, assistant principal for student activities. “Coach Randall rose to the top by demonstrating an incredible passion for athletics, a history of strong leadership as head coach of a successful program, and her reputation as an advocate for female athletics and leadership.”

For the past eight years, Randall has served as the head coach of one of Illinois's premier girls track program and is ready to take that experience to the next level.

“I am excited to move into an athletic leadership role at Elk Grove High School,” Randall said. “I hope to further develop leadership skills in myself as well as others and continue the reputation of excellence in the classroom and on the field.”

Elk Grove boys athletic director Terry Beyna is excited about Randall joining the athletic department.

“Jackie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of girls athletics,” Beyna said. “She knows exactly how to build a successful athletic program from the ground up. She will be a great mentor to our coaches and student athletes at Elk Grove High School.”

Randall has a lot to look forward to as she steps into her new role, including having “the ability to impact student athletes on a daily basis by working collaboratively with the coaching staff and administration,” she said.

“This opportunity will also allow me to continue to advocate for equity in athletics,” added Randall, who will officially begin her duties in August. “I am looking forward to learning the culture and climate at Elk Grove and what it means to be part of the EG Nation.”

Randall coached Grant's girls track team to the 2014 North Suburban Conference championship. The Bulldogs finished second this spring in both the NSC meet and Rockton Hononegah sectional. The team also had a strong showing in the Class 3A state meet in Charleston this past weekend.

Grant received an eighth-place finish from junior Rachel Bicknase in the discus and ninth-place effort from junior Delaney Basala in the 400-meter run. The Bulldogs' 3,200 relay of sophomore Lauren Troemel, freshman Roxanne Temple, junior Madison Romig and sophomore Brooke Drabek finished ninth as well.
