Cougars beat Timber Rattlers 6-3

The Kane County Cougars capped a four-game homestand with a 6-3 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (13-32) on Monday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva.

Offensively, Marty Herum of the Cougars (22-23) extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, his fourth of the season. An inning later, Victor Reyes' RBI single and Colin Bray's run-scoring groundout increased the lead to 3-0. In the seventh, Joe Munoz doubled home Herum and Stryker Trahan belted his fifth homer.

Winning pitcher Markus Solbach (4-2) allowed no runs and 1 hit through 6⅓ innings of his fourth quality start. Zac Curtis (9) struck out three to earn a save.
