Parades and ceremonies highlight Memorial Day events in Lake County

Here's a list of some of the Memorial Day parades and ceremonies planned for Monday in Lake County.

Barrington Memorial Day parade and ceremony: 10 a.m. Parade starts at Cook and Main streets and walks to Evergreen Cemetery for a short service. Free. Info: www.barrington-il.gov or (847) 304-3355.

Fox Lake Memorial Day Ceremony: 11 a.m. at Fox Lake Metra Station, Nippersink and Grand Avenue. Memorial Day ceremony by Fox Lake American Legion Post 703. Info: foxlakeamericanlegion.org. Free.

Fox River Grove Memorial Day parade: 8 a.m. Parade starts at Algonquin Road School and continues on Algonquin Road to South River Road. The parade ends at Lions Park, 747 S. River Road, with a ceremony. Info: foxrivergrove-il.org. Free.

Grayslake Memorial Day Parade and service: 9:30 a.m. The parade will kick off from the Hillside Avenue parking lot, across from Grayslake Central High School, and travel south on Lake Street to Junior Avenue and east on Junior Avenue to Memorial Park. Gurnee Memorial Day Ceremony: Noon at the Gurnee Memorial, 100 N. O'Plaine Road. American Legion Post 771 and the village will host a ceremony. Info: (847) 599-7500.

Lake Villa Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: Noon at Palombi Middle School, 131 McKinley Ave. Parade starts at the school and proceeds north to Grand Avenue, to Cedar Avenue, to Lehmann Park, 148 Cedar Ave., for memorial service. Info: Betty Burns, (847) 356-1076, or www.lake-villa.org. Free.

Lake Zurich Memorial Day Parade: 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 964, 51 Lions Drive. Parade forms at 9:45 a.m. Route is Main Street from Lions Drive to South Old Rand Road, southeast to Mohawk, then to the Veterans Memorial near the police facility. Libertyville Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: 9:30 a.m. at the Libertyville Village Hall, 118 W. Cook St. A silent parade from the train station to Cook Memorial Park, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., for service at Veterans Memorial at 9:45 a.m. Info: www.libertyville.com. Free.

Lincolnshire Memorial Day Celebration: 10 a.m. at Spring Lake Park, 49 Oxford Drive. Info: www.village.lincolnshire.il.us. Free.

Lindenhurst Memorial Day ceremony: 10 a.m. at the Lindenhurst Veterans Memorial, at the entrance to the village hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road. Info: www.lindenhurstil.org. Free.

Millburn Memorial Day Service: 2 p.m. at Millburn Cemetery, Millburn and Crawford roads in Wadsworth. The Historic Millburn Community Association will host a service.

Mundelein Memorial Day Parade: 10 a.m. Steps off in front of the village hall, 300 Plaza Circle. The parade will form at 9:45 a.m. and end at Memorial Park. Info: www.mundelein.org. Free.

Round Lake Area Memorial Day Parade: 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 1170, 111 E. Main St. (Route 134), Round Lake Park. Parade begins at Clifton Drive and Main Street, heads west to Cedar Lake, then north to Clarendon. Info: www.rlchamber.org. Free.

Wauconda Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: 10 a.m. American Legion Post 911's annual Memorial Day parade travels along Main Street and ends at Memorial Park for ceremony. Info: waucondaparade.com.

Waukegan Memorial Day Parade: 10:30 a.m. Parade heads south from Grand and Genesee streets, west on Clayton Street, south on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, and west on Washington Street, ending at Veterans Memorial Plaza at West and Washington Street, where a ceremony will be held. Wheeling Memorial Day parade: 11 a.m. Begins at Milwaukee Avenue, proceeds west to Wolf Road and north to Chamber Park. A ceremony follows at the park, with ice cream desserts. Info: Bill Hein, (847) 650-8985.
