13U Bulldogs win 2015 Casey Pohl Tournament

Palatine Travelers hosted the 12th Annual Casey Pohl baseball tournament May 14-17, 2015. This is a highly competitive tournament for travel teams in Northern Illinois. Teams come from as far away as Chicago, Aurora and Gurnee. The tournament honors #47, Casey Pohl who was an outstanding young player as a Palatine Traveler and went on to lead the Fremd Vikings to some great seasons. Unfortunately, Casey lost his battle with cancer at too young of an age. This tournament honors Casey's legend as a young player who always gave 110% on the field. His parents setup an outstanding scholarship fund in Casey's name that awards 1 senior from Fremd High School and 1 senior from Palatine High School monetary award to help with tuition for each of their four years in college.

The Palatine Travelers Bulldogs won the 13U division with a 3-2 victory over the Schaumburg Seminoles. The Bulldogs came back from trailing 1-0 until the bottom of the 5th inning and tied it. They scored 2 runs in the 6th inning before closing the game in the 7th. The Bulldogs also defeated the Illinois Hammerheads (Glen Ellyn) 11-5 in the quarterfinals and the Naperville White Sox 4-1 in the semi-finals. They finished the tournament 5-0, outscoring their opponents 43-12.
