Lake Zurich police safety check

Lake Zurich police announced Thursday that a roadside safety check will continue through Monday, May 25. Officials said Lake Zurich police received a grant for the operation from the Illinois Department of Transportation. As part of the Memorial Day campaign, police said, officers were at Rand and Deerpath roads from 9 p.m. May 16 to 2 a.m. May 17. Police said they focused on enforcing violations with seat belts, driver's licenses and DUI. They said 23 citations were issued to drivers of 907 vehicles that were stopped. There were two DUI arrests.
