Lisle sailor dies in UAE, says Department of Defense

A sailor from Lisle has died from noncombat injuries while serving overseas, the U.S. Department of Defense said Friday.

In a news release the department said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan D. Burris, 24, died Thursday in Abu Dhabi, UAE, of a noncombat related incident at Zayed Military City.

The incident is under investigation.

The department said the sailor was assisting in Operation Inherent Resolve and was temporarily assigned to the Crisis Response Element of Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula, Special Operations Command Central, U.S. Central Command.

Last year, U.S. military operations in Iraq and Syria against the Islamic State of Iraq was designated as Operation Inherent Resolve.
