Geneva Music Boosters to host textile recycling drive

The Geneva Music Boosters thanks all who have supported the drive to raise funds to replace the Geneva High School marching band uniforms.

The goal is near. More funds are needed to help with a few other expenses, such as tailoring, storage racks, etc.

To help finish things up, a textile recycling drive will be held. The used clothing industry provides lower-income people around the world with affordable clothing, repurposes clothing that is damaged as wiping rags, and processes clothing and textiles not suitable for wiping purposes back into fibers that are then remanufactured into paper, insulations, carpet padding, sound proofing, etc.

From May 26 to June 2, items can be dropped off in plastic bags at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley, during normal school hours. Items should be clean and dry and can be slightly stained or torn. Acceptable items include women's, men's and children's clothes such as pants, shirts, jackets, pajamas, skirts, dresses, undergarments; accessories and shoes including purses, shoes, belts, ties and hats; and household textiles including linens, towels, sheets, blankets and curtains.

For more information, contact Sherryl Frank at (630) 208-0245 or email to frankfam@sbcglobal.net. If you have questions on whether items will be acceptable for donation, contact Frank.
