Cougars rally to win in 10

BELOIT, Wis. - The Kane County Cougars captured their first extra-inning road victory of the season by beating the Beloit Snappers 5-3 in 10 innings at Pohlman Field on Wednesday night.

Down 3-2 in the top of the ninth inning, the Cougars (20-20) got a leadoff single from Henry Castillo and a Joe Munoz walk. Two batters and a pitching change later, Ryan Gebhardt provided his second RBI of the night with a game-tying single.

Cougars reliever Nick Baker (3-1) came into the game in the sixth and tossed 4 perfect innings.

In the 10th inning, the Cougars had runners at the corners with two outs when Victor Reyes tried to steal second and the catcher threw the ball into left field, allowing Marty Herum and Reyes to score for a 5-3 lead.

Zac Curtis notched his seventh save after striking out the side in the bottom of the 10th.

Herum and Gebhardt had sacrifice flies.

The Cougars conclude the four-game series today at 6;15 p.m. when they start Brent Jones (2-3, 2.96 ERA) against Daniel Gossett (1-4, 4.38).
