Barrington Art Festival returns to help village celebrate 150th anniversary
More than 130 artists from around the world will display and sell their art in Barrington this weekend when the 6th annual Barrington Art Festival returns to village's downtown.
The festival runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, along Cook and Station streets, and coincides with the village's ongoing celebration of its 150th anniversary.
"The Barrington Art Festival is delighted to serve as part of the festivities that are marking the village's anniversary," said Amy Amdur, president of event organizer Amdur Productions. "Adding art to Barrington's already charming downtown, which is filled with cafes, boutiques and restaurants, only enhances the village's appeal as a must-visit, must-see weekend destination."
Free and open to the public, the Barrington Art Festival will showcase the work in a variety of media, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, sculpture and more.
In addition to the incredible artwork available for purchase, attendees will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats. Live music, kid-friendly activities such as the patARTic graffiti wall, and epicurean delights also will be available for visitors to enjoy.
Drawings at the festival will take place daily, allowing some lucky visitors to win Art Buck$, courtesy of Amdur Productions, which they can spend at any of Amdur Production's 2015 festivals.
