Glenbard North clinches DVC championship

Glenbard North 8, Naperville North 3:

The Panthers (21-9, 15-5) capped their run to the outright DuPage Valley Conference title with their fifth straight league victory. Eric Orze, who went unbeaten in the DVC, improved to 9-0 overall. Nick Barrett drove in 2 runs and Sam Ledbetter had 2 hits.

Wheaton Academy 2, Riverside-Brookfield 1:

The Metro Suburban West champion Warriors (25-6, 17-1) capped a two-game sweep of Riverside-Brookfield. Winning pitcher Brett Albaugh struck out six and walked none. Chris Johnson went 3-for-3 and Jake Lindstedt went 2-for-2.

Glenbard East 7, Neuqua Valley 6:

The Rams (17-13, 13-9) won their seventh straight in the Upstate Eight River by scoring the 3 go-ahead runs in the third inning. Michael Sebby went 3-for-4 and Richard Masciopinto added 2 hits. Richard Arnold IV was the winning pitcher. Matt Gould went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for Neuqua Valley (23-8, 16-6).

Fenton 7, Aurora Central 3:

The Bison (13-13, 7-10) split in the Metro Suburban West behind an 11-hit performance. Alejandro Orosco went 3-for-4 while Cory Schwarz and Saul Aguire went 2-for-4 and combined for 5 RBI. Matt Lucas scattered 7 hits in a complete-game win.

Glenbard South 2, Addison Trail 1:

Dylan Brambora pitched a 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts and Andrew Wrona singled home Dominic Fazzari with the go-ahead run in the fifth inning for the Raiders (19-9). Jake Atiyeh had the lone hit and scored a first-inning run for Addison Trail (12-18).

Lake Park 7, Wheaton North 5:

Zach Zimmerman doubled and drove in 4 runs as the Lancers (12-18, 6-14) held on in the DuPage Valley Conference. Scott Fuchs pitched 5 innings to win on the mound. Doug Michalak homered and had 3 RBI.

Naperville Central 11, WW South 2:

A 5-run top of the seventh inning broke open the DuPage Valley Conference victory for the Redhawks (17-13, 11-9). Winning pitcher Ryan Eiermann struck out seven and walked none in 6 innings. Justin Kelly went 2-for-4 for WW South (12-19, 10-10).

Waubonsie Valley 5, West Aurora 1:

Complete-game winner Brandon Petersen struck out six and walked none in a 4-hitter for the Warriors (24-5, 19-3) in the Upstate Eight Conference. Luke Marzano, Nick Santoro and Ryan Strick, who drove in 2 runs, had 2 hits apiece.

West Chicago 11, Geneva 5:

The Upstate Eight game was knotted at 3-3 until the Wildcats (13-14, 10-11) scored 8 runs in the top of the eighth inning. Peyton Seidler went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI while Brian Sullivan went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Alex Cabral went the distance to earn the win.
