The Norman C. Huntley meeting room was awash with sounds of Civil War music as David Corbett and James Schranz, not pictured, of the Battlefield Balladeers, performed Wednesday in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, at the St. Charles Public Library. Their repertoire consisted of the patriotic, sentimental and comic songs of the era. Each song was introduced with a historic quote or reason why the song was important or popular. Their sound is created with guitars, minstrel banjo, harmonica and a variety of percussion and other instruments. This performance was funded through donations to the St. Charles Public Library Foundation. The group has been performing together for the last 12 years. Corbett is from Buffalo Grove and Schranz is from Lindenhurst. To get more information about the Battlefield Balladeers go to battlefieldballadeers.weebly.com Brian Hill/bhill@dailyherald.com
