Letter: Thank the good police who do protect us

With the recent civil unrest in Baltimore and other major cities across the USA we need to keep something in mind: Police and public servants protect us every day and provide order and safety in a difficult and dangerous world.

For those who would deliver police officers up as criminals please beware: Without police and a fair and constitutional legal system our country will quickly descend into a chaotic state of anarchy without the protection of law. Our public servants serve with duty and courage and as such should have our very greatest respect and admiration. They risk their lives every day they come to work for our collective safety and well-being.

This recent problem in Baltimore and our major cities is all about lawless behavior and not about racially based attacks by our public officials.

We need to be sure that our public servants know how much we appreciate their choice to protect our American ways of liberty and freedom. Most importantly we need to encourage future police officers that they have made the right choice in their career paths and not feel threatened by the current events that have quickly charged the six police officers in Baltimore as criminals in order to defuse political tensions. This is a gross miscarriage of our legal system. Let's get back on track and respect our police and public servants that give their lives for us each day.

The next time you see a cop/fire fighter or EMT on the street please tell him or her; thanks for protecting us and our cities that we live in.
