Red Noses and demolition bring excitement to downtown Batavia

With the upcoming construction of a new facility in downtown Batavia, Walgreens and BEI Properties are familiar with working together to make a positive impact in the community.

The Red Nose Day campaign is giving them yet another chance to team up as Walgreens and BEI staff gathered to take a group photo sporting their red noses in the good company of the Batavia bulldogs who stand guard over Wilson Street and welcome visitors to the Batavia Business Center.

Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh.

The inaugural Red Nose Day will be held in the U.S. on Thursday, May 21. People across the country will come together to have fun and raise funds and awareness.

The day's events will culminate in a three-hour entertainment special on NBC featuring the country's favorite comedians, musicians and Hollywood stars in a show not to be missed!

Everyone is invited to join the fun and start planning their own way to support Red Nose Day in our community.

To start, stop by Walgreens in the Batavia Plaza and pick up a nose of your own with proceeds going to the charity.

BEI and Walgreens will be teaming up at noon Tuesday, May 19, as well, to formally kick off the demolition of 122 W. Wilson St., just east of the Batavia Plaza Shopping Center, which will soon be the home of a modern and convenient new Walgreens store.

Local officials, business owners and others involved with the project will join the BEI Family for a group photo and reception at the site as former hardware store and bike shop is torn down.

Kimberly Berzanski, store manager of the 139 W. Wilson St. Walgreens currently in the Batavia Plaza, said, "Thank you to the team at Batavia Enterprises for supporting the Red Nose Day charities! We are all very excited for the start of construction for our new Walgreens!"

The new store will be a great addition to the downtown Batavia local shopping by providing Walgreens the opportunity to expand on its current products and give shoppers the option of a drive thru window. The new building will also feature an open area with landscaping and seating for the community to enjoy.

BEI Properties, a division of Batavia Enterprises Inc., is a locally owned and operated leasing and property management company that owns and manages industrial, retail, commercial and residential properties throughout the Fox Valley.
