District 300 hosting forums on middle school changes

Algonquin-based Community Unit District 300 will conduct two town hall meetings next week for parents of incoming sixth, seventh and eighth graders to gather feedback on the district's plans for middle schools.

The forums will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dundee Middle School, 4200 W. Main St., West Dundee, and Wednesday at Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State St., Hampshire.

Superintendent Fred Heid and his administrative team will talk about proposed changes to the middle school grading policy, proposed implementation of a middle school credit system, middle school promotion and retention policies, and give a brief overview of District 300's Strategic Plan.

Space for each town hall meeting is limited. Attendees are urged to register in advance by visiting d300.org/TownHall.

Parents of elementary and high school students will be able to attend similar town halls in the beginning of June. The dates will be announced at a later time.
