Baseball: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, May 14

Burlington Central 8, Rockford Christian 2: John Murphy went 3-for-4 and Avery Moore had 2 RBI as the Rockets (22-7, 12-1) clinched the Big Northern East championship. Andrew Wiss added 2 RBI for BC, while Jake Johnson picked up the win on the mound with relief from Jonny Frederickson.

Grayslake Central 10, Hampshire 3: Jayson Fleisner and Carter Lawler had RBI for the Whip-Purs (14-13, 5-11) in this Fox Valley Conference Fox Division loss. Alex Crinigan took the loss on the hill.

Elgin 5, Geneva 1: Scotty Palmer and Brandon Stork combined on a 1-hitter for the Maroons (8-21, 4-16) in the Upstate Eight River. Dean Anderson (2B, 2 RBI), Andrew Hardt (2 RBI) and Jack Koeckritz (2B) led the Elgin offense.

Stevenson 2, CL South 0: The Gators (21-5) managed just 3 hits in this nonconference loss. Collin Chubb had a double for Crystal Lake South and Tim Siesennop took the loss on the mound.

Larkin 7, Streamwood 5: Zach Edgar was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Jon Lenz drove in 2 runs to lead the Royals (10-18, 7-14) to a UEC River win. Tanner Gardon and Carlos Mayoral added 2 hits each for Larkin. Jon Lenz picked up the win, striking out 8. Zach Campbell had 2 doubles and 2 RBI for the Sabres (4-22, 3-16) and Hayden Holota added a double. Campbell was also the losing pitcher.

South Elgin 3, West Aurora 0: Austin Sayre tossed a 1-hitter with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead the Storm (15-7, 12-7) to a UEC Valley win. Antonio Danesi was 2-for-3 with a double while Mitch Butvilas, Justin Howard and Dan Asa drove in runs for South Elgin.

Westminster Christian 10, Luther North 0: Frank Angiulo was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI and he threw a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks as Westminster (15-16, 11-1) won easily in the Northeastern Athletic Conference. Adam Greene added a double and 2 RBI. Ian Merlak (RBI) and Tyler Mamrot (RBI) each had 2 hits.
