Cosley Zoo celebrates Endangered Species Day

Cosley Zoo in Wheaton will celebrate Endangered Species Day on Friday by highlighting the plight of Illinois' endangered animal species that reside at the zoo.

"The concept of conserving species seems like a daunting task," Cosley Zoo Director Sue Wahlgren said in a news release. "But the reality is that we have the power to make a difference and prevent species from becoming extinct. That's why this day is so important; we're empowering our community toward a better understanding of the significance and role of conservation,"

The event is part of a larger, national effort organized by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, of which Cosley Zoo is a member.

Cosley, located at 1356 N. Gary Ave., is involved with conservation efforts including the Blandings' Turtle Recovery Project and the FrogWatch program.
