Buffalo Grove weighing 15-unit townhouse proposal

The Buffalo Grove village board next week will weigh the proposed annexation of 1.83 acres in unincorporated Lake County, located directly north of Village Fire Station 27 and west of Easton Avenue.

The petitioner, Spearhead Properties, LLC, wants to build a 15-unit townhouse project on a lot located at 23020 Easton Avenue, and has requested a rezoning from residential in Lake County to multifamily in Buffalo Grove.

The village's planning and zoning commission voted 4-2 recommending approval, subject to conditions. the village board is expected to discuss the plan Monday.

Developer Chris Walsh emphasized his ties to the village. He said he lives in the village, a few blocks north of the site.

"I have lived here for 20 years," he said. "This is a site that I have driven by all the time. My kids ride their bikes past here. I care what happens to this site."
