Palatine Hills to host free golf event for community

The Head to the Hills free Family Golf Fest is from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at Palatine Hills Golf Course, 512 W. Northwest Highway. This event is open to the community and will include a variety of free games, clinics, contests, and raffles. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The event will include free instructional clinics on the Driving Range including Full Swing Basics at 2:15 p.m., Fairway Woods and Hybrids at 3:15 p.m., and Drivers at 4:15 p.m. The Putting Green will be home to clinics on putting at 2:45 p.m., chipping at 3:45 p.m., and bunker shots at 4:45 p.m.

Contests will also be held throughout the course grounds. A long-drive contest will be held on the first tee, a putting contest will be held on the ninth green, a short game contest will be offered on the sixth green, and a closest to the pin contest will be offered on the seventh tee.

The new six-hole FootGolf Course will also be open. FootGolf is a precision sport that combines the soccer and golf. Players follow rules similar to golf rules to kick a soccer ball into the 22-inch hole. Six holes have been laid out at Palatine Hills. FootGolf hours will be Mondays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 4 to 8 p.m. The daily fee for up to three rounds, or 18 holes, of FootGolf is $8 for adults and $5 for juniors. Soccer balls can be rented for an additional $2, and group rates and birthday party packages are available as well.

In addition, lawn advice will be available from our course care professionals and a practice disc golf hole will be set up near the clubhouse. Free raffles and giveaways will be available, and Open Kitchens will be selling food and beverages in the club house.
