Des Plaines Garden Club installs officers

"Mad Hatters Tea Party Luncheon" was the theme for the Des Plaines Garden Club's April 9 meeting.

Members were asked to bring a favorite item to share and wear their best hat or make a special one. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third place. Winners were Liz Sauer, Derby Ready; Ellen Jasica, Most Stylish; and Ann Ostenson, Most Outrageous.

Members had the pleasure of Julie Hansen, district awards chairwoman, install Susan Boyajian as first vice president, Bob Nicholson as treasurer and Anne Scanlan as recording secretary. Chairpersons of committees were announced with each receiving a plant along with the volunteers who maintain the four community gardens throughout Des Plaines.
