Softball: Fox Valley roundup Wednesday, May 13

Kristina Ahlers hit 2 home runs including a grand slam and had 5 RBI Wednesday as the Burlington Central softball team defeated Richmond-Burton 8-2 in Big Northern East action at Central.

Emily Kisch allowed just 4 hits and had 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings of work to earn the win for the Rockets (13-12, 8-4).

Amanda Ratliff added 3 hits and 2 RBI for BC and Jill Neisendorf has 2 hits.

South Elgin 10, Metea Valley 3: Cassidy Westlund had 2 hits including a home run and 3 RBI to lead the Storm (11-14, 9-8) in the Upstate Eight Valley. Stacy Bellack also drove in 2 runs for South Elgin, while Alissa Hargett, Amber Derr and Hannah Gordon each had 2 hits. Annamae Valdivia was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings in relief.

St. Edward 10, Fenton 0: Lindsay Zdroik threw a 1-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk and was 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI as St. Edward (19-7-1, 7-5) won in five innings in the Metro Suburban West. Allison Stratman (2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI), Emily Stapay (3B, RBI), Megan Strong (2-for-3), Rachel Lesh (2-for-3) and Devyn Ernst (RBI) also contributed for the Green Wave.

McHenry 6, Huntley 0: McHenry's Taylor Koepke had a perfect game one out into the sixth inning when a Haley Spannraft double broke it up but Huntley (16-7, 4-4) fell another game behind the first place Warriors in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Tiffany Giese took the loss for the Red Raiders.

West Chicago 5, Larkin 1: Sam Wahl and Bella Aguinaga each had 2 hits for Larkin (5-20, 4-12) in this Upstate Eight River loss. Sarah Hansen was the losing pitcher.

CL South 20, Harvard 3: Brook Maddox, Taylor Kassel and Carly Chovanec each hit home runs as the Gators (16-8) rolled to an easy nonconference win. Hannah Koenig was the winning pitcher.
