McKeon, Trevino pack a wallop for Warren

Shannon McKeon hit for the cycle, Sabrina Trevino belted 2 home runs and finished 3-for-5 with 4 RBI, and Warren's softball team pounded out 25 hits in beating host Vernon Hills 17-1 in a North Suburban Conference crossover Wednesday.

McKeon was 4-for-5 with a grand slam, 4 runs scored and 5 RBI for Warren (25-2). The Blue Devils also got big games offensively from Rachele Belletini (3-for-3, double, 2 RBI), Crystal Pennell (3-for-4, double), Julienne Egofske (3-for-5, 2 doubles), Amber Leneau (3-for-5), Emily Hudgins (2-for-4) and Nicole Somppi (2-for-5, 3 RBI).

Vernon Hills received 2-for-3 efforts from Dana Meline and Sara Lenzi.

Wauconda 2, Grant 0: Hayley Redmann went the distance in the circle, as the host Bulldogs improved to 20-10 and 9-1 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Redmann struck out six and didn't walk a batter. Mallory Carver doubled twice and finished 2-for-3 for Wauconda, and Kayla Wedl tripled.

Erin Bengsten and Hannah McCall each had 2 hits for Grant.

Mundelein 5, Zion-Benton 4: Breanna Adams threw a complete game, as the visiting Mustangs completed a season sweep of the Zee-Bees.

Maria DeVito went 3-for-4 and Kaitlyn Griffin was 2-for-4 for Mundelein (23-6, 6-3), which had 9 singles.

Carmel 17, Fenwick 5: The Corsairs (24-2) had 20 hits, including home runs by Jenny Behan and Jen Geisey, in their East Suburban Catholic win.

Behan also doubled and finished 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI. Giesey was 4-for-5 as well, knocked in three and scored three times. Madi Demarco (RBI, run) and Dani DeLozier were both 2-for-2.

Lake Zurich 13, Lake Forest 0: Vanessa DiVincenzo was 4-for-4 and scored 4 runs, as the Bears pounded out 19 hits in their North Suburban Lake win.

Jessie Puccinelli went 3-for-3 with a triple, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI for Lake Zurich. Amanda Guercio tripled twice and knocked in 3 runs. Brittney Pettinger, McKenna Zobel and Melissa Goldberg also had 2 hits apiece.

Aine Mattera pitched all 5 innings for the win, allowing just 1 hit, while striking out four and walking one.

Grayslake Central 10, Woodstock 0: Lindsay Brust homered and tripled, and Katie Strickland hit 3 doubles in as many plate appearances, as the Rams won the Fox Valley Fox game in six innings.

Teagan Truskowski (double) and Maddie Marshall also had two-hit games for Grayslake Central (14-16, 5-5). Juliana Frusolone doubled and drove in 2 runs. Morgan Smigielski pitched 5 1/3 innings for the win, striking out six and allowing 5 hits and 3 walks.
