Milestone for Dolezal as Barrington tops Conant

Barrington 4, Conant 3: Keenan Dolezal became the winningest pitcher in Barrington softball history on Wednesday with a 4-3 victory at Conant.

Dolezal won the 81st game of her career to break the former mark of 80 set by Abby Reed from 2001 to 2004.

Dolezal, a senior right-hander (81-18 for her career), improved to 22-5 this spring by tossing a 5-hitter with 7 strikeouts.

"We dedicated this victory to Lorraine Pahlke (who passed away on Monday at the age of 92) for all the wonderful opportunities she has provided for students and our community," said Barrington coach Perry Peterson. "She will always live in our hearts."

Pahlke was inducted into the Barrington Coaches' Hall of Fame under the category of Friends of Athletics this past February. She was inducted for her contributions to athletics in the area of athletic department transportation. She was a true ambassador for Barrington athletics, the high school, the district and the community.

Pahlke is the mother of longtime Fillies scorekeeper Sarah Sander, the grandmother of Fillies varsity assistant coach Jon Sander and the mother-in-law of Fillies hitting coach Dennis Sander.

Jenna Fingerman belted a 2-run homer for Barrington (23-5, 11-2) while teammates Carly Kordich (RBI), Rachel Macdonald (RBI) and Julia Kozar also had the hits.

Sara Neuman, who struck out three and did not allow a hit in the final 5 innings, and Alissa Wachal each had a hit and RBI for Conant (18-6, 9-4).

Fremd 7, Hoffman Estates 4: Alyssa Garcia (2-for-4) had 2 doubles and Julia Wacker (2-for-3) had one for host Fremd (23-4, 11-2) in the MSL West game. Julie Josten went 2-for-3 for the Vikes who got five innings from starter Lea Barrett (8-1) for the win. Nikki Kehoe struck out in the final two innings.

Pitcher Tracy Osimowisz (2-for-4) and Jordyn Fera (2-for-3) led the offense for Hoffman (11-14, 4-9).

Hersey 1, Prospect 0: Sophomore Kaitlyn Denten struck out a season-high 10 batters to help Hersey (7-16, 1-12) earn its first win in the MSL East.

Denten also helped ignite the winning rally inn the bottom of the sixth with her two-out double to center followed by Cassie Zouras' two-strike, game-winning RBI single to center.

Zouras went 3-for-3 in the game while Remy Gerew, Hannah Graff and Danielle Sychowski also had hits for Hersey.

Prospect (9-14, 4-9) was led Erica Nelson (2-for-3, double) while teammates Alyssa Cacini and Rachel Trebwether also had hits. Knights pitcher Delilah Malczewski struck out four.

Schaumburg 13, Palatine 2 (6 inn.): Senior Shannon Felde (9-1) earned the win with a 3-hitter and 13 strikeouts for host Schaumburg (22-1, 13-0).

The Saxons' offense was led by Elaine Walker (3-for-5, double), Christina Candotti (3-for-5, 2 triples, 3 RBI), Paige Alt (2-for-5, RBI), Sarah Schwind (2-for-5, RBI), Roxy Kakareka (2-for-4, 2 RBI).

Alex Cook (double, RBI), Felde (2 RBI), Michelle Birkholz, Kaiden Jackson and Natalie Napier (RBI) also had hits for the Saxons, who host Fremd today at 4:30 p.m.

Victoria Parrott, Erin Davis and Brooke Bauer had hits for Palatine (9-16, 5-8).

Wheeling 9, Rolling Meadows 4: Senior Megan Olsen and junior Christina Ambrose (2-for-4, 2 runs) led the offense for visiting Wheeling (3-17, 3-10) which received 2 strikeouts from winning pitcher Dakota Medrano, a freshman.

The Mustangs (2-22, 0-13) were led offensively by senior Alyssa Power (2-for-3, RBI) and sophomore Elizabeth Elkins (2-for-3, RBI).
