Suburban men perform Civil War music in St. Charles

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, the St. Charles Public Library Wednesday hosted a concert of Civil War music, featuring the Battlefield Balladeers.

Their repertoire consisted of the patriotic, sentimental and comic songs of the era. Each song was introduced with a historic quote or reason why the song was important or popular.

David Corbett of Buffalo Grove founded Battlefield Balladeers to combine his lifelong loves of Civil War history and musical performance. He has also served as president of the South Suburban Civil War Round Table.

The Battlefield Balladeers sound is created with guitars, minstrel banjo, harmonica and a variety of percussion and other instruments.
