Angie V's in Warrenville prides itself on friendly service, variety of events

Since opening in November, Angie V's in Warrenville has been working to attract customers by hosting a wide range of events ranging from trivia to beer tastings to DJs. With more in the works, the bar aims to always offer something to do.

Motif: There are four flat-screen TVs tuned to sports around the space, plus an electronic dartboard and Golden Tee game if you prefer playing games to watching. The wooden bar is flanked by red cushioned chairs, and booths are arranged along one side of the space. There are tall tables set with bright red chairs in the bar area. Walls are decorated with framed and neon beer signs.

Angie V's hosts trivia every Wednesday night and is planning on running car shows and line dancing during the summer. A private party room can be rented out for occasions like graduation parties, but they also plan to use it to host shopping events.

Food: Along with bar food standards like burgers and wings, you'll find more novel dishes such as mini-pork kebabs and five types of macaroni and cheese. The pulled pork and Friday fish fry, which offers a half-pound of Alaskan cod with coleslaw, fries and house-made tartar sauce for $9.50, have also proven popular.

Liquid consumption: Coffee and hot chocolate cocktails are a specialty here, including the Mexican hot chocolate made with steamed milk, Hershey's syrup, RumChata, Kahlua and plenty of tequila and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, and the simpler Frangelicocoa mixed with Frangelico hazelnut liquor. Angie V's doesn't currently have any beer on draft while they're working on replacing the tap lines, but they do regularly host breweries like Founders Brewing Co. for beer nights including flights, free samples, giveaways or special brews.

Crowd: The spot mostly appeals to middle-aged locals, though the bar sometimes gets families and college-aged customers.

Service: Even though the bartender was doing double duty by also waiting tables, she was very friendly and attentive. We ordered two of the signature hot chocolate cocktails, which she mixed right in front of us. She'd designed the drinks herself and was happy to share the recipes. When we asked about the beer selection, she recommended we sign up to receive emails about their upcoming beer events.

Music: DJs spin music based on different themes each Saturday and they also take requests.

Parking: There are plenty of spots in the bar's free lot.

Overall: The friendly service makes Angie V's a great hangout, whether you're going for an event or just to relax with a cocktail.
