Bartlett 7, Neuqua Valley 0: Junior Tripp Paris shut out second-place Neuqua Valley (19-7, 13-5) on 5 hits and 3 walks and he struck out 6 in this Upstate Eight Valley win. Leadoff man Cameron Mays went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored, Paris doubled and drove in 2 runs and Myles Zilinsky and Austin Hilvert each contributed 2 hits for Bartlett (14-12, 11-7).
South Elgin 2, West Aurora 0: Ryan Weiss (5-2) shut out West Aurora (9-17, 7-11) on 2 hits. He struck out 6 and did not issue a walk. Kyle Hays went 1-for-3 and drove in a run, and Justin Howard doubled for South Elgin (13-7, 10-7).
Larkin 5, Streamwood 0: Senior Tanner Gardon threw a 2-hitter with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts to help the Royals snap a 9-game slide in the Upstate Eight River. Johnny Avila homered and drove in 2 runs, Nick Fillmore doubled and Dan Lenz went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Larkin (8-18, 5-14). Losing pitcher Adam Sojda allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, but only 2 runs were earned and he struck out 6 without issuing a walk for Streamwood (4-20, 3-14).
Geneva 7, Elgin 0: The Maroons played errorless defense but were held to 2 hits by three Geneva pitchers, including winner Bret Reed, who allowed 1 hit and issued 3 walks in 5 innings. John Nelson allowed 7 earned runs on 5 hits and 5 walks and he struck out a pair in the loss for Elgin (7-20, 3-15).
Harvest Christian Academy 4, Schaumburg Christian 1: Chad Jakel singled twice and drove in 2 runs, Zach Zabran doubled and Drew Lewis went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in this victory for Harvest Christian (4-14). Winning pitcher Dylan Lockwood allowed an unearned run on 4 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 7 in 6 innings.
Prairie Ridge 7, Dundee-Crown 4: Brett Johnson and Jared Ludwig (home run, double) each accounted for 2 of the Chargers' 5 hits in this Fox Valley Conference crossover defeat. McHenry 4, Jacobs 3 (8 inn.): Jacobs committed 2 infield errors in the bottom of the eighth inning of this Upstate Eight Valley series opener, including the game-deciding play with runners at first and third and two outs. Evan Liebau took the loss in 1⅔ innings of relief of Ryan Sargent, who held McHenry (17-10, 8-6) to 3 earned runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 10 in 6 innings. Owen Oreskovich singled and drove in 2 runs for Jacobs (20-7, 9-3).
