Family Alliance offers workshop for caregivers

Are you caring for an adult family member?

Caregiver stress can often lead to increased risks of depression and physical illness that may impact the ability to provide care.

Family Alliance offers a conference series designed to equip family caregivers with the knowledge, skills and support needed to keep their family member at home for as long as possible. Toward that end, much of series focuses on self-care.

The next conference in the series, “Your Health Matters,” will be Saturday, May 16, at Family Alliance's Woodstock location, 2028 N. Seminary Ave.

It will include these presenters:

• Licensed clinical professional counselor Donna Kirkpatrick-Pinson on “Caregiver Stress”;

• Mental health professional Maria Morrill on “Resources, Living Arrangements and Spousal Impoverishment”;

• Registered nurse Eileen Filler on “Laughter Yoga”;

• Edward Beckstrom of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of McHenry County Inc. on “Is There Too Much Month at the End of Your Money? “

The doors open at 8 a.m. The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by free lunch.

Originating in a church basement in 1982, Family Alliance now provides comprehensive, integrated health care services to meet the needs of the growing population of adults and their families throughout the region. Family Alliance operates facilities in Woodstock and Huntley.
