Cupcakes for a Case May 16 at Conant High School

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, the Conant High School cafeteria will

be filled with more than 10,000 decorated cupcakes for sale.

Proceeds of "Joe Schlender's Cougar Cupcakes for a Cause" will go to the Autism Society of Illinois, the Kenneth Young Center and Conant's benevolence fund - Cougars In Need.

From wild animated characters to the decadence of red velvet, the cupcakes are baked by the students, faculty and parents of Conant High School with additional baked goods from local businesses.

Admission is free and cupcakes are $2 each, or $20 per dozen.

The event is named in honor of Joe Schlender, who served Conant High School for 17 years and retired as principal in 2005. Family activities will include face painting, arts and crafts, a balloon bender, photo booth and live performances by Conant High School musicians.

The Conant cafeteria is inside Entrance 1 or Entrance 25 of James B. Conant High School, 700 East Cougar Trail, off Plum Grove Road, Hoffman Estates.

Autism Society of Illinois empowers individuals, families and the community impacted with autism spectrum disorders by providing education, advocacy and intervention. The Kenneth Young Center helps families in the Northwest suburbs with mental health support and encouraging adolescents to make healthy choices. Cougars in Need helps provide families in the Conant community with things they need.
