St. Charles Kiwanis Club awards grants for April
At its weekly meeting April 28, the St. Charles Kiwanis Club awarded three more grants to area organizations - The Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice and Little Angels.
Ed Jodelko accepted a $1,000 grant on behalf of the Boy Scouts, and detailed how the grant would be used to establish an Explorers' post for aviation.
Kathy Melone, director of development for Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, explained how the grant of $1,500 would be used for a program to assist children who have lost parents or other family members to cancer.
Elaine McCalmont, development coordinator with Little Angels Center for Exceptional Care in Elgin, said their children's dental program would benefit from the $500 awarded by the club. Little Angels' mission is to help children who have few alternatives once out of public school.
Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to helping the world's children.
