Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner said he will not seek re-election for a fourth term in 2017. Weisner, who has battled colon cancer on and off for the last eight years, said his health contributed somewhat to his decision. Standoff ends peacefully in Wauconda

A standoff in Wauconda ended peacefully about 8 p.m. Sunday, police said. According to a news release, authorities in Buffalo Grove asked for help from Wauconda police in locating Mitchell C. Bender, 31, a suspect in a domestic battery case who was believed to have a handgun. Full story.

Driver escapes injury in fiery crash on I-355

Illinois State Police said a car burst into flames after it crashed into a wall along southbound I-355 in Downers Grove early Sunday. The driver escaped the vehicle unharmed, according to police. Officials said the driver was later charged with DUI but they have not released his name. Full story.

West Chicago crash causes gas leak

A vehicle crashed into a West Chicago office building and triggered a natural gas leak when it damaged several gas meters, officials said Sunday. The West Chicago Fire District responded at 11:22 a.m. to a reported traffic accident in the 1500 block of Kautz Road. Full story.
