Grant High scores in bike safety quiz

Grant Community High School in Fox Lake has been recognized by the League of Illinois Bicyclists for its efforts to teach driver's education students about safe car-bike interactions and relevant state laws through an online quiz.

The Fox Lake school is one of only five from Illinois to receive the honor, and the only one from the Chicago area. Along with the recognition, the organization will send a $400 check to Grant and a certificate. The quiz teaches pupils about safe car-bike interactions and relevant state laws.

The quiz at bikesafetyquiz.com consists of 25 Secretary of State-approved multiple-choice questions covering safety techniques and bicycle laws. The learning comes from short explanations tailored to a student's right or wrong response. League of Illinois Bicyclists created this tool to help close a public educational gap that increases in priority as more people bike for transportation and recreation.
